Africa-Press – Nigeria. Leaders and stakeholders of Ebonyi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have pledged support for the newly appointed Caretaker Committee of the party in the state.
At a stakeholders meeting held in Abakaliki, the party leaders lauded the National Working Committee, NWC, for appointing the Caretaker Committee led by Barrister Ekuma Emmanuel, saying that the move has restored hope and cohesion in the party in the state.
The meeting which attracted leaders of the party from the 13 local government areas of the state, was attended by the South-East National Vice Chairman, Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu, the 2023 deputy governorship candidate, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, former Acting National Secretary of the PDP, Onwe S. Onwe, a former Deputy National Youth Leader, Chief John Igboke, the 2023 Director General of Ebonyi State PDP Campaign, Chief Autin Edeze, former governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly aspirants, among many others.
Speaking at the event, Nwagu said that with the “appointment of the Caretaker Committee, the PDP in Ebonyi State is now ready to rebuild its house.”
He emphasized that the “PDP cannot die” noting that it is now clear that the true leadership the party has finally arrived.
In his remarks, Egwu thanked the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, for being a good ambassador of the South-East.
Caretaker chairman, Ekuma, expressed happiness over the overwhelming support the committee has received from party leaders and members.
He assured party members that the caretaker committee is ready and committed to ensuring that it discharges its mandate and properly situates the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
The PDP National Working Committee in a letter signed by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Umar Bature, announced the appointment of a 13-man caretaker committee led by Barrister Ekuma Emmanuel, Chairman and Moses Idika, Secretary.
Others members of the committee are, Chief Christopher E Ngwuta, Chief Godwin O Nwode, Barrister Ugochukwu Obasi, Engr. Odanwu E Ifeanyi, Barrister Lawson Chukwu, Chief Matthew Nkwegu, Igboke Chukwuma, Mr Adiele A Okoro,Engr. Francis Kalu, and Hon Muhammad I Oken, Augustine Ezike.
