Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Edo State Police Command has arrested seven suspected criminals allegedly in possession of assorted rifles.
The Command also apprehended a suspect found with arms, ammunition, charms, and other dangerous weapons.
this was disclosed in a statement by Moses Yamu, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, made available to newsmen in Benin City.
Yamu said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Okhuaihe Division in collaboration with vigilante personnel while on routine stop-and-search duty along the Benin-Agbor Road.
He stated that the suspects were intercepted after alighting from a truck between November 2 and December 4, 2025, at about 6:00 p.m. and 6:40 p.m., respectively.
The suspects are reportedly between the ages of 22 and 30.
The Command’s spokesman gave the names of the seven suspects allegedly posing with assorted rifles as Usman Ibrahim, Bello Garba, Dahiru Muhammad, Sarki Murtala, Suleman Ibrahim, Umar Yahaya, Abdulahi Hassan, and Isah Musa Maida.
Yamu alleged that investigations revealed several pictures of the suspects posing with the rifles.
He stated that the suspects claimed to be coming from Adamawa State but could not provide any satisfactory explanation regarding their mission.
He further alleged that one dane gun, a pack of cartridges, charms, food items, a cutlass and knife, a solar panel, three flashlights, a mobile phone, and a pack of matches were recovered from one of the suspects, Isah Musa Maida.
Yamu said the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, while Isah Musa Maida will be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the investigations.
