Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, have suspended their planned picketing of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The suspension follows the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, who has constituted a high-level committee to address the unions’ demands.

This was disclosed by the President of JOHESU, Kabiru Minjibir, on Wednesday.

Recall that the National Secretary of JOHESU, Martin Egbanubi, had earlier said that the unions would picket their parent ministry, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, to press home their demands.

JOHESU, alongside the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations, commenced an indefinite nationwide strike on 15 November 2025, over the Federal Government’s failure to implement the adjusted CONHESS and address other welfare and systemic challenges affecting health workers.

According to Minjibir, the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) met with President Tinubu on Tuesday night, during which the issues affecting JOHESU were formally tabled before the President.

“Although the meeting was held between the NLC leadership and the President, JOHESU’s demands, particularly the adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, were a major part of the discussions,” he stated.
