Crisis Hits Zamfara APC as Jaji Accuses Yari Matawalle

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The All Progressives Congress, APC, membership e-registration exercise in Zamfara State has sparked controversy, following allegations of disenfranchisement by a prominent party stakeholder, Aminu Sani Jaji.

Jaji, who is the chairman of the Jajiyya Political Movement, accused former Zamfara State governor, Abdulaziz Yari, and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of hijacking the registration process.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Jaji alleged that Yari and Matawalle, in collaboration with the APC National Organising Secretary, deliberately excluded his political faction and the state Organising Secretary of the party, Bashir Ahmad Gusau, from participating in the exercise.

According to him, the alleged exclusion undermines fairness, inclusivity, and internal democracy within the ruling party, warning that such actions could threaten party unity in the state.

Jaji further drew parallels with the 2019 general elections, claiming that similar internal obstacles were used to sideline former governor Ahmed Sani Yeriman Bakura, a development he said weakened the party at the time.

He called on the APC national leadership to institute an independent investigation into the matter and take corrective measures against any party officials found to be involved in exclusionary practices.

The Jajiyya Political Movement leader also urged the party to issue clear operational guidelines to ensure strict compliance with APC rules throughout the e-registration exercise.

Jaji appealed to the media and independent observers to objectively monitor the process, reiterating his group’s commitment to due process, transparency, and accountability within the APC.
