Africa-Press – Nigeria. A shop owner at the Onitsha main market, Gibson Okafor, has said that shutting down the market is entirely putting fire to fire.
Okafor said this on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Morning Brief’ monitored .
Recall that Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State on Monday ordered the closure of the market, a decision that has sparked controversy.
An Abuja-based human rights lawyer, Maxwell Opara, had lashed out at the governor, insisting that he must be sued for the action.
The shop owner said, “For him (Soludo) to shut down the market entirely, he’s just putting fire to fire.
“Because for one week if these our customers coming into Onitsha main market don’t find us in the our shops, they will find another route to buy goods.”
