Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Vice Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, has appealed to the staff of the institution not to panic over the continued delay in the selection of a new Vice Chancellor.

Professor Iwe, who was addressing the staff and students during their monthly prayer meeting in Umudike, said the selection process by the University’s governing council is ongoing.

He urged them not to be anxious about the slow transition process but to pray to God to guide the members of the governing council to successfully conclude the task.

“I know a lot of people within and outside the University are concerned about the long-drawn process of appointing my successor. I encourage you to have confidence in God, who is constant and is able to do anything for His people,” Prof. Iwe said.

The University of Agriculture Vice Chancellor, who assumed office in March 2021, will be completing his tenure in early March 2026.

There were reports in the media that members of the Governing Council of the University were allegedly frustrating the activities of the outgoing administration of Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, including the continued delay in the 13th Convocation ceremony since December 2025.
