Africa-Press – Nigeria. A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ladan Salihu, says the public resistance of the arrest of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is a message to the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government that Nigerians won’t tolerate impunity.
Salihu said this on Friday while responding to questions in an interview on Trust TV.
He was speaking on the attempt to arrest El-Rufai at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
“Now let me say this without any fear of contradiction, without any equivocation.
“The fact that El-Rufai’s arrest was thwarted by Nigerians or bystanders at the airport is sending early warning signs to the APC-led government.
“Impunity, high handedness and wanton disregard for the right of the individual can no longer be tolerated by the public.
“It is the public that went on and caused a barricade and shielded El-Rufai from being arrested.
“Nigeria should not degenerate or deteriorate into a situation where the citizens go out by themselves to begin to defend,” he said.
