Africa-Press – Nigeria. Lagos State Government has stepped up environmental compliance enforcement in Ikorodu, as operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, conducted routine surveillance and inspection exercises across selected markets, plazas and commercial premises in the area.

The enforcement drive, carried out under LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement, WISE, unit, resulted in the issuance of Notices of Intention to Seal to several locations found to be in breach of stipulated waste management and sanitation regulations.

Premises affected by the notices include the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal; properties at Nos. 6 and 7 NBC Road, Ebute; Ominu Ajasa and Royal Family premises; as well as Ladega Market and Better Life Market, all within Ikorodu.

According to the state authorities, the affected plazas, markets and occupants have been given a 72-hour window to rectify the identified infractions and comply fully with environmental standards.

Officials warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would attract enforcement actions in line with existing laws.

The operation, which was confined to the Ikorodu axis, forms part of the ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government to strengthen environmental hygiene and promote responsible waste disposal across the state.

The government reiterated that maintaining a clean and healthy Lagos requires collective effort, stressing that environmental sanitation remains a shared responsibility among residents, businesses and public institutions.
