Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Labour Party’s Kaduna State chapter has urged all aggrieved members, including those who may have defected during the recent leadership crisis, as well as supporters across the state, to return, set aside differences, and unite in building a stronger, more inclusive party.
Addressing stakeholders at the conclusion of the party’s meeting in Kaduna on Saturday, the Kaduna State chairman, Elder Yusuf Solomon Danbaki, said: “The meeting served as a critical platform to take stock of the current state of the Labour Party in Kaduna, reaffirm our unwavering loyalty and support to Senator Nenadi Usman as the National Chairman, following the Supreme Court judgement and INEC recognition, and deliberate on preparations for the forthcoming congresses and national convention.
“We discussed strategies to foster unity, promote reconciliation, and develop a collective roadmap for the party’s growth and success in serving the people of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.”
According to him, the stakeholders expressed optimism about the party’s future under Usman’s guidance and resolved to participate actively in the forthcoming congresses and national convention, emphasising the need for inclusive processes, fair competition without automatic tickets, and the establishment of caretaker committees drawn from all local government areas to ensure inclusion, transparency, and equity.
Participants also launched an initiative to welcome back former members and integrate new ones, focusing on zones and local governments where party structures require strengthening.
In the same vein, discussions with Zones 1, 2, and 3 are ongoing to consolidate loyal bases and build robust new structures.
Danbaki said: “The meeting marks a turning point for the Labour Party in Kaduna State, transforming past conflicts into opportunities for growth. We remember with heavy hearts the losses we endured, including the passing of Adams Ekene and the defection of Donatus to the APC, but we are determined to regain our glory by prioritising the party’s interests because when the party wins, we all win.”
