Africa-Press – Nigeria. Former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is the largest political party in Africa.
Ahmad was reacting to the defection of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Posting on X, he said with Finitiri’s defection, APC now boasts of 30 governors out of the 36.
He wrote: “With Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party now boasts 30 out of the 36 governors in the federation, firmly cementing its position as the largest political party in Africa.”
Finitiri had announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to APC in a statewide broadcast on Friday.
The governor defected alongside his entire cabinet and all PDP officials.
According to the governor, his action was for the developmental interest of the people of Adamawa State.
