Africa-Press – Nigeria. Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, have arrived at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s sweating in for a second term.
Soludo and Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim are to be sworn in on Tuesday.
The main inauguration is to take place at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, following a series of pre-inauguration activities.
The program began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, Awka, which celebrated the end of Soludo’s first tenure and sought divine blessings for the new term.
A thanksgiving mass is scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral.
Security has been beefed up across the state, with law enforcement agents deployed to ensure a smooth event.
