Ezeh Declares Candidacy for National Chairmanship

Africa-Press – Nigeria. A chieftain of the Labour Party, LP, Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman, pledging to reposition the party as an inclusive, ideology-driven platform that caters to the aspirations of all Nigerians.

Ezeh made his declaration on the sidelines of the party’s National Executive Council, NEC, meeting, where key stakeholders gathered to deliberate on pressing organisational and strategic issues.

Addressing party leaders, stakeholders, and members, the former House of Representatives candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency said his decision was driven by a “deep sense of responsibility” and commitment to the growth of the party.

“I step forward with humility, conviction, and a deep sense of responsibility to formally declare my intention to serve as the National Chairman of our party,” Ezeh said.

He, however, acknowledged that the final decision on zoning of the position rests with the party’s leadership, noting that his aspiration remains subject to the outcome of consultations within the NEC and other relevant organs.

“I appreciate that the next step will depend on where the position is ultimately zoned by NEC and leaders of our party,” he added.

Outlining his vision, Ezeh said his mission is to rebuild the Labour Party into a modern, dynamic, and inclusive political institution capable of attracting a broad spectrum of Nigerians, including entrepreneurs, professionals, business leaders, and the working class.

“Our mission is clear: to rebuild the Labour Party into a modern, dynamic, and inclusive political home for entrepreneurs, professionals, business leaders, and the hardworking men and women of Nigeria,” he stated.

He stressed the need for the party to strengthen its ideological foundation, arguing that a clearly defined philosophy would distinguish it in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“Our Labour Party must step forward as a party built on ideology, and I am ready to lead that step,” Ezeh said.

Ezeh, who was also the Ebonyi State governorship aspirant in 2022, called for unity among party members and urged stakeholders to work collectively toward consolidating the gains made by the party in recent electoral cycles.
