Africa-Press – Nigeria. Properties, including household items, worth millions of naira have been razed as a result of fire that ravaged two residential buildings in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
A residential building located at No 16, Majekobaje community, Idi Osan, Iwo Expressway, Ibadan was gutted by fire on Thursday.
No life was lost in the incident.
Chairman, Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.
He said, “On getting there, we met a private residential building of three-bedroom flats covered with flames and thick smoke.
“We quickly swung into action and ensured the fire did not spread to the nearby buildings and properties.
“No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was as a result of firewood not put out properly when used and ignited to the nearby combustible materials”.
There was another fire incident at 32, Oshodi Street, Olorunsogo behind Scout Camp, Felele in Ibadan.
The incident occurred on Thursday.
It was learnt that the kitchen of the residential building was affected by the fire.
Akinwande also confirmed the incident.
