Africa-Press – Nigeria. Two residents reported that at least 30 people were killed in an attack by armed individuals on a village in Kaduna State, northwest Nigeria.
The village head’s secretary stated that the attackers stormed the village, firing indiscriminately and setting homes ablaze. Among the dead were eight children, and four others were injured.
Violence from armed gangs and other criminal groups has become a significant security challenge in parts of northwest and north-central Nigeria, where local communities are frequently subjected to deadly attacks. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack in Kaduna State.
A local resident and youth leader mentioned that the assailants invaded Naridon village in the Kaura local government area just before midnight and opened fire on the residents. He added that some villagers were killed, and many bodies were taken to the morgue.
He stated, “The victims include women, children, and the elderly.” He also noted that the attackers set homes on fire before fleeing. He explained that security forces arrived in the village in the morning, hours after the attack.
