The Adamawa House of Assembly has decided that the appointment of Alhaji Bakura Iya as the Madagali District head was not done with due regard for popular votes.

The House therefore asked the appointing authorities, the Mubi Emirate and Governor, to reverse the appointment as a matter of urgency.

The recommendations of the legislators, articulated at the Wednesday plenary followed the consideration and adoption of a report of the House Standing Committee on Public Petitions presented before the House by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Shuaibu Babas.

The Committee told the House that letters from Mubi Emirate Council and District Head of Madagali dated 23rd and 21st September, 2019, respectively confirmed that there was an election to fill the vacant office of the district head.

It said the Emirate and the District Head told the Committee that of the four persons (Lawans) who voted during the exercise, three voted for one Yerima Mustapha Iya while one voted for Bakura Iya.
