Africa Press-Nigeria:

Chelsea central defender Fikayo Tomori has explained that an Alex Iwobi jersey is among his collection because he is good pals with the Everton winger.

The Nigeria Football Federation had seriously courted the Blues Academy product to bolster the Super Eagles but it ended up being a wild goose chase as he became cap-tied to England in a European Championship qualifier against Kosovo four months ago.

Asked by Chelsea’s official website the last time he wore a football shirt of a team he wasn’t playing for, Tomori answered : “I wear friends’ shirts so I have Alex Iwobi’s from Everton, Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal or Jarred Bowen from Hull. People that I know, I wear their shirts.”

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Nigerian parents, Tomori has admitted that he visited Nigeria when he was much younger.

“I went to America and Canada a lot because we had friends and family there. We went to Nigeria when I was really young and then again when I was about 10 or 11,” he said.

On the last time he used public transport, Tomori said : “It was probably when Ola Aina and I used to take the train back from Hull when we were on loan up there.”
