SAME PRESSURE PLAYING FOR RANGERS AND NIGERIA – JOE ARIBO

Africa Press-Nigeria:

Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo says that he experiences the same pressure and expectation to win regardless of whether he plays for Scottish giants Rangers or the Super Eagles.

Aribo has become a top performer for ‘Gers, where he has improved his level of play under manager Steven Gerrard following a move from Charlton Athletic in 2019.

He racked up nine goals and eight assists in 48 appearances across all competitions before Rangers’ season was halted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The 23-year-old has also picked up four caps for Nigeria, starting with his debut against the Ukraine in September last year, and he feels that there are similar high demands for both club and country.

“I’d say playing in front of the big crowds, and we’ve got 50,000 over at Rangers, so it’s like no different and there’s an expectation at Rangers to win, where also that’s like Nigeria, expected to win”, Aribo told Rangers TV.

“So, I mean, that’s helped me bring that to the international stage. Literally, it is no different to Rangers.

“I mean, we are expected to win every game so it is just like okay, it is the norm now, it’s literally become the norm for me so it’s no different to being at Rangers.”
