BENT: PALACE SHOULD REPLACE ZAHA WITH IWOBI

Africa Press-Nigeria:

Nigerian star Alex Iwobi should be signed by English side Crystal Palace according to former England international Darren Bent.

The retired striker believes Iwobi, who is currently on the books of Everton, would be the perfect replacement for Ivorian star Wilfried Zaha in the left-wing at Palace.

Iwobi is coming off a poor debut season at Everton where he scored only two goals and registered one assist in 29 games across all competitions.

Bent, who played for Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa during his time in the English Premier League, indicated that Iwobi needs to improve his end product.

“He’s definitely a signing that they need because they need people with quality,” Bent said to Football Insider.

“For me, Alex Iwobi doesn’t do it for me, his end product’s not good enough, he doesn’t score enough goals, doesn’t create enough goals so he’s not really doing anything.

“For me, if Zaha can get himself down there and play on the left-hand side with Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Gomes, I really like what they’re doing down there. If I’m Everton, I go for that one 100 per cent.”

Iwobi joined Everton in August 2019 from Arsenal where he started his professional career – scoring 15 goals from 149 competitive matches.

The 24-year-old player has netted seven goals in 40 international matches for Nigeria.
