He stressed the strategic importance of the role of the Media in National defence communications and urged them to be patriotic in reporting security matters.
He added that as major stakeholders in building a peacefully virile nation they should also shun unverified stories and sensationalism capable of undermining National security.
While explaining the need for the youth to equip themselves educationally, he promised to give scholarship to the Chairman of the team to further his education at any university of his choice.
The Chairman Kano State Youth Social Media Team, Comrade Sagir Ibrahim Gadanya who bagged Scholarship to further his education thanked the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the right leadership to end insecurity in parts of the Country.
He assured the Defence Minister that their Media Platform will continue to maintain the right dispositions towards projecting the Military Campaigns to end banditry, kidnapping and terrorism in the country.
While appreciating the Minister for the audience granted to the Five – man delegation, he thanked him for rendering selfless service to the nation in general and Kano State in particular .
The Minister of Defence Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) has vowed to continue to raise the bar of Public Service delivery within his Area of Responsibility, AoR through enhanced Staff welfare.
This came to the fore during the Presentation of an award of excellence to the Defence Minister by the Leadership of the Ministry of Defence Joint Executive Council of Labour Unions at the Ship House Abuja.
He said workers2l statutory rights to sustenable welfare packages, periodic Trainings and Promotions as at when due are dear to his heart and will never be denied the hard working staff of the Ministry.
While appreciating the award, he assured them that he will sustain the tempo of peaceful industrial harmony through a level play ground for the workforce to enjoy their entitlements and for enhanced productivity devoid of corruption which he said are intandem with the vision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari.
The President Ministry of Defence Joint Executive Council, JEC, comprising six affiliated Labour Unions Mrs Chime Joyce described the Minister of Defence as Union friendly.
Mrs Joyce justified the award presented to the Minister based on his improved welfare scheme for the workforce and his comprehensive empowerment of all members of JEC at the Headquarters who were beneficiaries of the 2020 training programmes and the comprehensive training opportunities for all level 14 and below on nominal role in the out gone year 2021.
While appreciating the Minister’s efforts in national defence architecture against Non – State actors daily threatening the peace of the land, she pledged workers loyalty and commitment to prompt service delivery at all times.
