Africa-Press – Nigeria. A 20-year-old man, Jibrin Saidu Lamido, has been killed following a violent altercation reportedly linked to a romantic relationship in Gurdadi village, Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Monday when the deceased visited the home of his girlfriend, Saratu Gata, 22, in Kalameri village.
An unidentified man allegedly arrived at the scene, took the lady away, and challenged Jibrin to follow them if he was “truly a man.”
The confrontation escalated into a fight, during which the suspect attacked Jibrin with a cutlass, inflicting fatal injuries to his neck.
Security operatives from Kumaganam Outstation quickly responded and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, Kumaganam, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The remains of the deceased were later released to his relatives for burial after an autopsy was conducted.
Police authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
