Africa-Press – Nigeria. Panic broke out in Bauchi on Monday after a section of an uncompleted storey building under construction on Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street suddenly gave way, trapping seven workers on site.
Witnesses said the structure collapsed around 3 p.m., drawing the attention of residents and motorists who rushed to help before emergency officials arrived.
The Deputy Director of the Bauchi State Fire Service, Dauda Pali, confirmed the incident, explaining that his team responded immediately after receiving a distress call.
“By 3 p.m., we were alerted to a building collapse at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street, GRA Bauchi. When we arrived, we verified the report and commenced rescue efforts without delay,” Pali said.
He noted that all seven construction workers were pulled out alive from beneath the debris and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Pali added that the agency would investigate the possible cause of the structural failure, urging contractors to prioritise proper engineering standards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
