Africa-Press – Nigeria. The leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and its 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa State, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, has reacted to the defection of the member representing Gwaram Federal Constituency, Hon. Yusuf Shitu Galambi, along with Musa Majia and Aminu Jahun, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ringim described the defection as untrue, noting that the NNPP remains strong and committed to its ideals despite the move by some members to join the APC.
“According to him, all the defected members are members of the ruling party APC before joining the NNPP. Galambi was the APC member who we accommodated when his party denied him a ticket to contest; we gave him the platform and he won.”
“Aminu Jahun was flushed out of the PDP, we gave him shelter, and at the same time he was meeting with APC, and even when he was with us, we know he has been disclosing our meetings to the APC.”
“As for Musa Majia, he has never been a member of our party because he never participated in any of our activities; he never helped us in any way,” Ringim said.
Ringim noted that, based on this, Jigawa NNPP has never recognized them as genuine members of the NNPP, emphasizing that no single genuine NNPP member has joined the APC in Jigawa State.
He said the party would continue to focus on building a credible alternative platform for the people of Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.
Ringim assured supporters that the NNPP’s vision for good governance and people-oriented leadership remains unchanged, urging members to remain steadfast and united.
He advised the state government to focus on executing developmental projects for the citizens of the state and to stop propagating opposition defections to the party in the state.
It was reported that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) recently received over 66,000 defectors from various opposition parties into the ruling party.
