Africa-Press – Nigeria. Atalanta will delay Ademola Lookman’s departure for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.
Lookman was named in Nigeria’s 55-man preliminary squad by head coach Eric Chelle on Tuesday. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the winger is expected to make the Super Eagles’ final 28-man squad for the competition.
The Super Eagles will open camp for AFCON 2025 in Cairo, Egypt, on 10 December, with all players expected to report the following day.
Atalanta will release Lookman only after their Serie A clash with Cagliari on December 13, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Lookman is expected to play a key role for the Super Eagles in Morocco. The 28-year-old scored three goals and registered one assist in seven matches at AFCON 2023, with the Super Eagles finishing as runners-up.
