Africa-Press – Nigeria. A Special Assistant to the Governor of Jigawa State has resigned from office as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Honourable Alhaji Auwal Ibrahim Sansani, who served as Special Assistant on Small Town Water Supply to Governor Umar Namadi, stepped down from his position to pursue an elective office.
In a letter dated March 25, 2026, and addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, Sansani expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
He commended the governor for the trust placed in him and highlighted his contributions toward improving water supply in small communities across the state.
He also appreciated the support of the ruling All Progressives Congress throughout his tenure.
Although he did not disclose the specific position he plans to contest, political observers say the move signals early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
Before his appointment, Sansani held several roles within political circles in Jigawa State. He is also known as the National President of the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum, a group mobilising support for President Tinubu across the nineteen northern states.
As of the time of filing this report, the Jigawa State Government has yet to issue an official statement regarding his resignation.
More resignations are expected in the coming months as political appointees align with the presidential directive and prepare for party primaries and the 2027 general elections.
