Middle East tensions threaten Super Eagles’ friendly matches

Nigeria’s Super Eagles friendlies against Jordan and Iran this month may be called off due to the joint military action by the USA and Israel against Iran.

Éric Chelle’s side are scheduled to take on Iran’s Team Melli in their first game on Friday, 31 March.

The three-time African champions will face Iran four days later.

The presence of Iran at the competition has also been questioned as reports suggest the security of their players can cannot be guaranteed.

Iran has hit back at US and Israeli assets in Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Syria and Saudi Arabia to further compromise security in the Middle East.
