Spokesman of Owo palace in Ondo state, Alhaji Jamiu Ekungba has said the late Olowo of Owo, Oba Victor Olateru-Olagbegi, before he died, told Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that he will not be removed from office until 2023.<\/p>\n
Ekungba, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Board of Trustees, said this on Sunday when the State Working Committee of the party paid a condolence visit to the Palace in Owo.<\/p>\n
He said the late Oluwo of Owo usually called on chiefs to pray for politicians, who visited to seek royal blessing but he took an unusual step when the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo visited the Palace shortly before the monarch died.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur highly revered monarch personally took the Vice President aside and prayed for him. He told him in clear terms that the VP would be in that office for eight years, and that nothing would change that,\u201d Ekungba told the visitors.<\/p>\n
He said that unusual spiritual blessing was responsible largely for the success of the presidential flagbearer at the polls in February.<\/p>\n
The palace spokesman urged the party leaders and stakeholders to close ranks, and explore available avenues to resolve all issues in the interest of the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no need for us to fight in APC; God has blessed us. We must close ranks and sue for peace,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the State Chairman of the party, Engr. Ade Adetimehin described Owo as the bedrock of progressive politicking in the Southwest.<\/p>\n
He said major decisions that had positively affected the Yoruba politics were taken in Owo.<\/p>\n
Adetimehin said Owo has produced human resources in large numbers, who are progressives in thinking and approach.<\/p>\n
He described Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, an Owo indigene as \u201ca man following the footmarks of the late Chief Adekunle Ajasin in his approach to the development of the State\u201d.<\/p>\n
The party boss expressed the sympathy of the party and prayed to God to grant the Kingdom the fortitude to bear the demise of a foremost monarch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
