Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the National Assembly to enact a law that would end off-season elections in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Jonathan stated this on Saturday in an interview with reporters after casting his vote in the ongoing governorship election in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.<\/p>\n

He explained that if the country continues with the off-season election as contained in the Nigerian constitution, a time may come when even the presidential election would be off-season.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cI get worried about off-season elections. I am appealing to the National Assembly that we need to block these off-season elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not the global best practice. If we continue with these off-season elections, because of our law, it will come to a time when even a presidential election will be off-season\u201d.<\/p>\n
