Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has congratulated Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, over the Court of Appeal\u2019s ruling affirming their victory in the March 18 governorship election.<\/p>\n

Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State APC Chairman, also commended the judiciary for the verdict in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Wednesday dismissed issues raised by the PDP candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, and the Labour Party Candidate, Mr Gbadebo Rhode-Viviour, against the judgement of the election tribunal.<\/p>\n

The tribunal had earlier, on Sept. 25, dismissed Adediran and Rhode-Vivour\u2019s petition against Sanwo-Olu\u2019s victory.<\/p>\n

Ojelabi said the appellate court\u2019s ruling was a confirmation of the confidence reposed in the government of Sanwo-Olu and his team by Lagos residents.<\/p>\n

The APC chairman said all the party\u2019s leaders and members were elated about the decision of the appellate court.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that the pronouncement of the court is a testament to the confidence that Lagos residents have in our party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis outcome laid credence to the ruling of the Lagos State Elections Petition Tribunal, which was also in our favour.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe APC as a party appreciates the due diligence done by the Nigeria judiciary to arrive at this conclusion,\u201d Ojelabi said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the affirmation is a pointer to the fact that the judicial system in the country has evolved, and the system can be trusted and relied upon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe judicial process was thorough and deep, as all the issues were delved into without leaving any stone unturned.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe, therefore, commend them for the this due diligence,\u201c he said.<\/p>\n
