{"id":100990,"date":"2023-11-16T21:48:03","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T20:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/akwa-ibom-road-accidents-15-dead-62-injured-in-10-months-frsc"},"modified":"2023-11-17T00:15:08","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T23:15:08","slug":"akwa-ibom-road-accidents-15-dead-62-injured-in-10-months-frsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/akwa-ibom-road-accidents-15-dead-62-injured-in-10-months-frsc","title":{"rendered":"Akwa Ibom road accidents: 15 dead, 62 injured in 10 months \u2013 FRSC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Akwa Ibom State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said a total of 15 persons have died and 62 were injured in different road crashes in the state in the last 10 months.<\/p>\n<p>State Sector Commander Matthew Olonisaye disclosed this on Thursday while briefing newsmen on the activities to mark this year\u2019s West African Road Safety Week and World Day for Remembrance of Road Safety Victims in Uyo.<\/p>\n<p>Olonisaye pointed out a remarkable reduction in road crashes in 2023 compared to 2022, during which 28 people were killed and 164 injured in road crashes within 10 months.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the reduction was in line with the FRSC\u2019s mandate of reducing road crashes to 5 per cent in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The sector commander said that this was the period for the FRSC to remember those people who were injured in several cases of road crashes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of the activities to mark this year\u2019s day, we are going around the city to sensitise the public on the need to add value to their lives. We will visit the emergency departments of hospitals in the state to identify with the victims of road crashes and try to give them hope,\u201d Olonisaye said.<\/p>\n<p>He cautioned motorists to desist from acts capable of endangering the lives and property of road users during the forthcoming Yuletide season.<\/p>\n<p>He called on drivers to always take their vehicles to the Ibom Computerised Vehicle Inspection Services (IBCVIS), established by the state government, to properly diagnose all mechanical faults and reduce road crashes in the state.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
