Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje says the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf who was stacked by the Appeal Court on Friday would still suffer defeat at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

The immediate past governor of Kano State made the remark while addressing newsmen at his Abuja residence in Asokoro.<\/p>\n

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Friday upheld the verdict of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which earlier nullified the election of Governor Yusuf of the New Nigeria People\u2019s Party, NNPP.<\/p>\n

The court declared that the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, was the true winner of the March 18 governorship election in Kano.<\/p>\n

Delivering judgment on the appeal filed by Governor Yusuf, the three-member panel led by Justice M.A Adumeh held that the NNPP candidate was not qualified to contest the election, stating that he was not a registered member of the party as of when the election was conducted.<\/p>\n

The governor, while reacting to the Appeal Court verdict, expressed optimism that he would reclaim his victory at the apex court.<\/p>\n

But Ganduje, who was elated by the Appeal Court ruling, vowed that the APC candidate would still win at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cI thank Allah for this important judgment. We have to thank the judiciary for providing a good administration of justice despite all the distractions that have taken place since the beginning of the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no doubt this is a victory for democracy. It is a victory for APC and a victory for Kano State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an indication that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut in all, probably they will go to the Supreme Court which is part of democracy. There is nothing wrong for them to go to the Supreme Court. We, too, are ready to meet them in the Supreme Court. And Inshallah, we will win in the Supreme Court as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
