Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Super Eagles midfielder, Duke Udi is rooting for Jose Peseiro to lead the team to continental glory in Cote d\u2019Ivoire next year.<\/p>\n

Peseiro has been criticised following the Super Eagles\u2019 poor showing in recent outings.<\/p>\n

The Eagles laboured to draw against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures.<\/p>\n

That led to renewed calls for Peseiro to be sacked but Udi has backed the Portuguese to remain in charge of the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s too early to sack a coach because he drew two matches. He has not lost,\u201d the former Shooting Stars player told BBC Sports Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still on course for both competitions (the World Cup and Nations Cup). In Ivory Coast, anything can happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cote d\u2019Ivoire will host the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations from January 13 to February 11, 2024.<\/p>\n

The Super Eagles are in Group A with Cote d\u2019Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.<\/p>\n
