{"id":102117,"date":"2023-11-26T19:51:21","date_gmt":"2023-11-26T18:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/high-level-of-insecurity-caused-by-sidelining-of-police-force-ex-cp"},"modified":"2023-11-26T22:13:36","modified_gmt":"2023-11-26T21:13:36","slug":"high-level-of-insecurity-caused-by-sidelining-of-police-force-ex-cp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/high-level-of-insecurity-caused-by-sidelining-of-police-force-ex-cp","title":{"rendered":"High level of insecurity caused by sidelining of Police Force \u2013 Ex-CP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A former Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Gabriel Achong has blamed the high level of insecurity in the country on what he described as the \u2018sidelining\u2019 of the Nigeria Police Force.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that the police is the agency charged with the responsibility of handling internal security, he said many other security agencies have usurped the role.<\/p>\n<p>He also alleged that some persons are making vast sums of money from the insecurity in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Achong spoke at the Zone 6 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Calabar, where 47 new Assistant Superintendents of Police were inducted into the Officers\u2019 Mess.<\/p>\n<p>He raised the alarm that bandits and other armed insurgents in parts of the country are having field day because the internal security arrangements have been compromised.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Nigeria Police Force is poorly funded despite its strengths and expectations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nigeria Police is not well funded. Put all the security forces together they aren\u2019t up to the resources you have in the police yet the police have been sidelined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOthers are angling to take over the functions of the police. We have many security issues in Nigeria because they do not allow the police to act their responsibilities.
