Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Police Command has uncovered some groups plotting to unleash violence on the state over the appeal court ruling that handed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna victory over Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).<\/p>\n

The command said it had arrested seven suspects, and they will be charged to court.<\/p>\n

It added that some faceless groups who claim to be traders are gathering in some points of the State, including some local government areas, assuring that it is on top of the situation.<\/p>\n

Speaking to newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said intelligence reports at their disposal show that these so-called traders are using religion to perpetuate their acts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome patriotic Nigerians, came to us from Bebeji, Wudil and some other areas, reporting that there are some people hiding under the guise of reading the Quran in the names of prayers, and already we have sent our men and dispersed them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He expressed worry that the groups were trying to stir emotions against the police by speculating that they harassed women while dispersing them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese faceless groups are planning to send negative messages through the social media and traditional media against the Police and they are putting pressure to achieve their bad intentions,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
