{"id":103605,"date":"2023-12-09T21:23:38","date_gmt":"2023-12-09T20:23:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/bauchi-38-year-old-man-arrested-over-alleged-attempt-to-murder-wife"},"modified":"2023-12-10T00:08:33","modified_gmt":"2023-12-09T23:08:33","slug":"bauchi-38-year-old-man-arrested-over-alleged-attempt-to-murder-wife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/bauchi-38-year-old-man-arrested-over-alleged-attempt-to-murder-wife","title":{"rendered":"Bauchi: 38-year-old man arrested over alleged attempt to murder wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Bauchi State Police Command has announced that it has arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly attempting to murder his wife with a pestle.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, titled \u201cHusband Disguises, Assaults His Wife,\u201d it was disclosed that the suspect planned to kill his wife, sell their house\u2019s television set, and use the proceeds to furnish his shop.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added that the suspect confessed to orchestrating a false alarm about a house invasion by thieves with the intention of harming his wife.<\/p>\n<p>It read, \u201cOn December 2, 2023, detectives attached to \u2018A\u2019 Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi, arrested Tijjani Ahmadu Diye, male (35), for assault, causing grievous harm, and attempting to commit an offense, namely culpable homicide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon receiving the report, a team of detectives was dispatched to the scene and promptly evacuated the victim to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she received necessary medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreliminary investigations revealed that the suspect admitted to the allegations against him without much resistance. In his confession, the suspect raised a false alarm that armed robbers had entered their house. He quickly entered the bedroom, met his wife, and asked her to cover her head with a scarf.
