Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, ZSUBEB, Professor Nasiru Anka, has lamented that the State has a large number of out-of-school children.<\/p>\n

According to him, records show that the number of out-of-school children has gone up to 61 per cent in the State, assuring that there are formidable strategies to tackle the issue and reduce the rate to 20 per cent.<\/p>\n

Anka said this while speaking with newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, saying the board would come up with a policy to enhance parents\u2019 enrollment of their children in school which he said would be done through public enlightenment.<\/p>\n

He said the challenge requires a multi-faceted approach, pointing out that it is on top of the list of Governor Dauda Lawal\u2019s administration\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n

He further stated that if the insecurity is addressed in the rural communities, enrollment of children will be enhanced.<\/p>\n

The chairman pledged to make teaching jobs attractive by improving the welfare of teachers, to enhance the quality of teaching and education in Zamfara.<\/p>\n

He therefore called on staff members and stakeholders to work closely together to improve the quality of basic education.<\/p>\n
