Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has warned residents against the use of knockouts, fireworks and firecrackers in the territory during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command said knockouts and fireworks have the capacity of causing panic or apprehension in the general public.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents of the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n

The statement also revealed that the Command has deployed officers to strategic places in the capital city to ensure a crime free Christmas celebration.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the deployment is characterized by \u201cvisibility policing at various places of worship and event centres, and raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings\/shanties, stop and search, vehicular\/foot patrol and inter-agency cooperation\u201d.<\/p>\n
