Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abayomi Nurain Mumuni has said it is too early for politicians to distract President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with their 2027 presidential ambition.<\/p>\n

Mumuni advised politicians not to distract Tinubu with what he described as a political charade at this material time.<\/p>\n

He made these assertions in a statement made available through his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

A group christened, Forum of 2023 APC Presidential Candidates, led by a former governor of Zamfara Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima was inaugurated in Abuja on Monday.<\/p>\n

Yerima who is the Convener\/Acting Chairman of the forum while speaking, said the main objective of the forum was to pave the way for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s second term bid in 2027.<\/p>\n

But, Mumuni in his reaction, warned politicians across the country not to distract the president with such plans.<\/p>\n

Noting that the 2027 ambition is not what the country needs now, Mumuni warned politicians to desist from such an idea.<\/p>\n

He noted that it is unfortunate that some politicians are dragging the president to contest for a second term less than one year in office.<\/p>\n

Mumuni said, \u201cPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has since moved on from the 2023 election. From all indications, he is now busy with governance and his promise to bring renewed hope to the masses. We know how demanding all these can be; so the President should not be distracted with political shenanigans at this very defining period of our nationhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is too early to be forming a forum for 2027 politics. We all know this is a mere smokescreen by the former presidential aspirants to court personal favours from the President. They should not distract him. If they are truly motivated by patriotism, they should support the efforts of President Tinubu by contributing to the development of their various states and impacting the livelihood of the masses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is laughable that people who need advice are seeking to play advisory roles to the President. All these are a political charade. It is not what our beloved country needs now. The President has enough advisers already in his cabinet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe former presidential aspirants will do well to reflect on the gaps across sectors in the country and play their roles as statesmen to fix them. They can do this without noise. We have private players without political posts contributing enormously to our country and its people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am afraid that if this charade is entertained, we might start having associations of former ministers, former special assistants, former this and that trying to flock the Aso Villa in the name of serving advisory roles\u201d.<\/p>\n
