Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Three inmates of Ijebu Ode Correctional Centre, Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, have escaped from the facility.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that the inmates scaled the prison fence and bolted away.<\/p>\n

The inmates were identified as Hammed Adeboyejo, convicted for armed robbery and murder, Fatai Taiwo Akande, from Ijebu-Igbo, also convicted for murder, and Aliu Oguntona, sentenced for sexual offences.<\/p>\n

They are are currently on the run.<\/p>\n

Our Correspondent gathered that the inmates escaped from the facility about three days ago.<\/p>\n

A source hinted that the officials of the correctional centre have been looking for the inmates since last Saturday but refused to raise the alarm.<\/p>\n

Contacted for comment, Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, Mr Victor Oyeleke, confirmed the incident saying that it happened early Saturday morning around 3:00 am.<\/p>\n

Oyeleke said, \u201cYes, it is confirmed. It happened early hours of Saturday morning around 3:00 am. A search party to bring the three of them back has been raised. We have their biometrics and we have contacts of their families. We are working together with other sister agencies and in good time they will be brought back.\u201d<\/p>\n
