Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has urged political leaders to emulate the leadership qualities of Ghali Na\u2019Abba, former House of Representatives Speaker who died on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The speaker\u2019s message is in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Musa Krishi on Wednesday in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Na\u2019Abba died in Abuja on Wednesday morning at the age of 65.<\/p>\n

He represented the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency and was elected to the National Assembly on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999.<\/p>\n

He became the Speaker of the House of Representatives after Salisu Buhari was forced out of the Assembly over certificate and age issues.<\/p>\n

Krishi, who expressed Abbas\u2019s sadness over Na\u2019Abba\u2019s demise, quoted him as saying \u201cformer Speaker Ghali Na\u2019Abba was one of Nigeria\u2019s finest lawmakers while he held sway as the number four man.<\/p>\n

\u201cNa\u2019Abba was a lawmaker par excellence; a dedicated, committed and patriotic Nigerian who served his fatherland with zeal.\u201d<\/p>\n

He recalled how Na\u2019Abba had an eventful tenure as Speaker of the 4th House, saying his legislative exploits shaped Nigeria\u2019s democracy.<\/p>\n

He added that \u201cduring Na\u2019Abba\u2019s tenure, he brought unity and stability to the House.<\/p>\n

\u201cNa\u2019Abba was a special breed as a lawmaker. He showed leadership as Speaker of the 4th House.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe inspired members and championed the first and only successful veto of a sitting president, leading to the establishment of the NDDC.<\/p>\n

\u201cLong after his exit from the parliament, he remained politically active and continued to encourage and motivate us all. We will really miss him.\u201d<\/p>\n
