Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Plateau House of Assembly has applauded the efforts of the Federal and State Governments to address the myriad of security challenges currently confronting the state.<\/p>\n

Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Dewan Gabriel, gave the applause in a press conference on Friday in Jos.<\/p>\n

The speaker was reacting to the Christmas Eve attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reports that gunmen had hit many villages, killed hundreds, including women and children, and also destroyed many houses and other properties.<\/p>\n

Official reports indicated that the attack left over 100 persons dead with many injured and currently receiving treatment in various hospitals<\/p>\n

The speaker, who condemned the killings, described the invasion as gruesome, senseless and barbaric.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe Plateau House of Assembly wishes to condemn in strong terms, the Christmas Eve attack on some communities of our dear state.<\/p>\n

\u201dThis led to the loss of over 100 lives, with many houses burnt and properties lost.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe House commends the immediate action taken by the governor and the federal government toward dousing the tension in the state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
