Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has visited the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu in Owerri, Imo State.<\/p>\n

Obasanjo discussed \u201cissues of mutual interest\u201d with Iwuanyanwu alongside other Ohanaeze leaders.<\/p>\n

Addressing journalists, Friday, on the outcome of the visit, Secretary General of Ohanaeze, Okey Emuchay said the meeting was very symbolic and crucial as fruitful deliberations were held.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIssues of mutual interest were discussed. The PG informed Chief Obasanjo that Nigeria should erect monuments in his name for the sacrifices he has made.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe recalled his role in ending the civil war with the slogan of no victor no vanquished; repayment of huge external debts and recovery of the economy during his time as President.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe informed the former President that the Igbo nation will bestow honour on him appropriately.<\/p>\n

\u201cRemember that when Chief Obasanjo was President, he appointed several Igbo sons and daughters into his cabinet and other high profile positions. A sense of belonging was provided to the Igbo nation during that time.\u201d<\/p>\n
