Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A wildfire outside the premises of the Federal College of Education, FCE, in Yola has destroyed 10 shops.<\/p>\n

The fire that occurred on Saturday reportedly resulted from bush burning.<\/p>\n

The incident left the victims in anguish, lamenting the loss of wares they said ran into millions of naira.<\/p>\n

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who paid a visit to the scene, warned residents to refrain from bush burning.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cThis is the dry season. The Harmattan winds are very strong. People should stop indiscriminate bush burning, especially around residential areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the victims, Mercy Paul, said she lost all her hairdressing salon equipment to the fire.<\/p>\n
