Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ogun State Command, says its personnel arrested 252 illicit drug suspects from January to December 2023.<\/p>\n

The NDLEA state commander, Chidi Nnadi, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying the suspects comprised 214 males and 38 females.<\/p>\n

According to him, the command secured the conviction of 57 suspects whose sentencing ranged from three months to five years imprisonment, adding that 47 cases are pending in court.<\/p>\n

Nnadi explained that the command confiscated illicit drugs weighing 1,909.69kg during the period.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithin the same period, the drug supply reduction efforts led to the discovery and destruction of 9.5 hectares of cannabis farms (23.759 tonnes of cannabis sativa) at Ifedayo and Oriade local government areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The commander thanked the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, for providing support in ridding the state and the entire country of substance abuse.<\/p>\n
