Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The police on Thursday arraigned a 27-year-old artisan, Blessing Aganmuyi, before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court in Ondo State over alleged assault and stealing of N20,000.<\/p>\n

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge bordering on assault and stealing.<\/p>\n

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, had informed the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 27, 2023 around 12:30pm., along Okitipupa-Irele road, in Okitipupa magisterial district.<\/p>\n

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.<\/p>\n

Orogbemi said the defendant, because of a mild argument, assaulted one Bamidele Temisan, by beating him with fist blow on his face, which caused severe injuries to him.<\/p>\n

He said the defendant also allegedly stole N20,000, belonging to Temisan.<\/p>\n

According to him, the offences are punishable under Sections 355 and 390 (9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.<\/p>\n

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Cletus Ojuola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N80,000, and one surety in like sum.<\/p>\n

Ojuola said the surety must be resident within the court\u2019s jurisdiction and should show evidence of two years tax payment to the Ondo State Government and then adjourned the case until Jan. 18, for further hearing.<\/p>\n
