Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Chelsea defender, Jason Cundy, has slammed Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk after his team\u2019s 2-1 Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win over Fulham on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Cundy claimed Van Dijk is overrated, suggesting that former Premier League defenders Sol Campbell, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand are better than the Netherlands international.<\/p>\n

Recall that Van Dijk endured a tough first half in Liverpool\u2019s clash against Fulham.<\/p>\n

He struggled to head the ball to safety in the 19th minute and allowed Willian to convert a half-chance against Liverpool.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old also picked up a booking just five minutes later, as the Reds trailed 1-0 at home.<\/p>\n

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy said, \u201cHe can do this… Van Dijk. Sometimes he puts in displays where you go, \u2018That is a bit rubbish\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only does he head the ball in a direction that you don\u2019t want him to.<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonaly, I think he is overrated. I don\u2019t think he is anywhere near the levels, consistently, of the likes of Sol Campbell, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand.<\/p>\n
