Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a special Presidential Panel on Social Investment Programmes.<\/p>\n

Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The President gave the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, the nod to head the Special Panel.<\/p>\n

The Panel is tasked with immediately undertaking a comprehensive review and audit of existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the Social Investment Programmes.<\/p>\n

It will also implement a total re-engineering of the financial architecture of the programmes with detailed modification to procedures guiding the programmes\u2019 implementation moving forward.<\/p>\n

The Panel consists of the following members:<\/p>\n

Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance \u2013 Chairman;<\/p>\n

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare \u2013 Member<\/p>\n

Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning \u2013 Member<\/p>\n

Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation \u2013 Member<\/p>\n

Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy \u2013 Member<\/p>\n

Honourable Minister of State for Youth \u2013 Member<\/p>\n

The development follows the suspension of the N-Power Programme, the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme and two other programmes administered by the National Social Investment Programme, NSIPA.<\/p>\n

The programmes were suspended to give way for a thorough probe of the agency and the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Ministry.<\/p>\n

On January 2nd 2024, Tinubu suspended Halima Shehu, the national Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, over financial misappropriation.<\/p>\n

Days after, the President suspended the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, over N585 million corruption allegations.<\/p>\n
