{"id":107382,"date":"2024-01-16T22:08:30","date_gmt":"2024-01-16T21:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/kwara-poly-student-killed-in-auto-crash-two-others-injured"},"modified":"2024-01-17T00:46:51","modified_gmt":"2024-01-16T23:46:51","slug":"kwara-poly-student-killed-in-auto-crash-two-others-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/kwara-poly-student-killed-in-auto-crash-two-others-injured","title":{"rendered":"Kwara Poly student killed in auto crash, two others injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A student of the Kwara State Polytechnic was killed on Tuesday by a trailer driver in the Maraba-Sango area of Ilorin, the state capital.<\/p>\n<p>Two other victims were injured in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>A source claimed the victims were students on their way to the campus at Adewole to receive a lecture when the tragedy occurred.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe driver of the trailer heading towards Maraba from Sango suddenly lost control while approaching the Ministry of Agriculture\u2019s roundabout and hit a vehicle in front, which in turn hit the motorcycle with the three students,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased hit her forehead on the ground and died instantly, while the two others, who sustained severe injuries, were rushed to the hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n<p>She said the driver of the trailer has been detained by the police at the A Divisional headquarters of the police formation in Ilorin, while the truck has been impounded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very unfortunate that a student\u2019s life was lost to the incident; two others are currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
