{"id":107543,"date":"2024-01-17T21:41:41","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T20:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/another-atbu-student-arrested-for-possession-of-firearms"},"modified":"2024-01-18T11:20:16","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T10:20:16","slug":"another-atbu-student-arrested-for-possession-of-firearms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/another-atbu-student-arrested-for-possession-of-firearms","title":{"rendered":"Another ATBU student arrested for possession of firearms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A 400-level student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Mike James Habila, has been apprehended by the Bauchi State Police Command for alleged firearm possession.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest took place at the student residence in Gubi village.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest comes after a 23-year-old 300-level ATBU student was apprehended for a similar offence last December.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, revealed in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday that preliminary investigations showed the suspect had unlawfully possessed two firearms, a locally-made gun and a locally-made pistol with 9mm live ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>The recovery of the firearms occurred on January 13 when detectives from C Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the DPO, SP Abubakar Naziru Pindiga, acting on credible intelligence provided by a vigilante group, arrested James Habila.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the defendant claimed that the weapon belonged to Samson Irimiya, alias Zaddeos, who was previously arrested in possession of a locally made pistol on May 24, 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
