Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the civil service.<\/p>\n

He conveyed his displeasure at the Government House in Jalingo during the weekend while receiving the report from a committee appointed by the state government to screen and select a substantive Head of Civil Service.<\/p>\n

Observing a perceived slumber in the State Civil Service, Kefas issued a stern warning to civil servants, urging them to rise to their responsibilities.<\/p>\n

He assured that the committee\u2019s report would not be overlooked, revealing plans to transform it into a \u2018Responsive Civil Service Monitoring team.\u2019<\/p>\n

This team, as announced by him, will be tasked with identifying areas for training and capacity-building for civil servants.<\/p>\n

To facilitate the work of the monitoring team, the governor directed the provision of office accommodation and vehicles, assigning a six-month duration for their assignment.<\/p>\n

Governor Kefas initiated the committee on January 5, 2024, with the mandate to screen and recommend candidates for the appointment of the Head of Civil Service in the State.<\/p>\n

The committee\u2019s scrutiny of permanent secretaries led to the submission of its report, paving the way for the appointment of a substantive Head of Civil Service following the conclusion of Suzy Jemima Nathan\u2019s contract.<\/p>\n
