{"id":108192,"date":"2024-01-24T10:45:39","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T09:45:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/kidnapping-fcta-commences-profiling-of-worst-hit-communities"},"modified":"2024-01-24T13:24:19","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T12:24:19","slug":"kidnapping-fcta-commences-profiling-of-worst-hit-communities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/kidnapping-fcta-commences-profiling-of-worst-hit-communities","title":{"rendered":"Kidnapping: FCTA commences profiling of worst-hit communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has commenced the profiling of areas worst-hit by kidnappers in the territory.<\/p>\n<p>The Director, Development Control, FCTA, Mr Mukhtar Galadima, who led the exercise in Abuja on Tuesday, said it was to know the causes of the kidnappings and suggest solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise began with Sagwari Layout Estate, Dutse, in Bwari Area Council, where kidnappers abducted some residents recently.<\/p>\n<p>Galadima noted that the officials, with support of security personnel, would identify buildings without approval and other illegal activities in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Represented by the Deputy Director, Monitoring and Enforcement, Mr Hassan Ogbole, he blamed the poor planning of the area on the community leaders and some of his personnel.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that the area was surrounded by structures that were built without the approval of the FCTA development control department.<\/p>\n<p>The director further said that after profiling the area, the department would recommend necessary measures that would curb the activities of criminals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exercise is a fact-finding mission and part of the department\u2019s periodic monitoring of developments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe observed the recent growing chain of illegal developments within the ecological sensitive zone to the lower Usuma Dam, which is supposed to be a secured side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActivities of illegal developers are a threat to the FCT Administration and to the Dam.
